How to Clean Wood Laminate Floors

While hardwood floors are elegant, beautiful, and desirable they are also more expensive and harder to maintain. With that being said, there are so many people these days that are going with wood laminate floors because they are lower priced and are much easier to clean. It doesn’t take too much to keep wood laminate floors in perfect condition. Here is how to clean wood laminate floors in a few simple steps.

Step One

First and foremost, you want to make sure that you sweep and clean up any spills from your laminate floors constantly. Just like any other regular floors sweeping on a daily basis will remove dust and dirt that may be on the floors. Even if the room is not busy, you should always be inclined to sweeping since there will be dust particles from your cooling and heating vents.

If there are any spills on your floor then you will want to immediately clean it right up because you want to keep it from getting hard and messing up the laminate floor. You may want to use a Swiffer Sweeper which is inexpensive and very easy to use; in fact it is so much easier than a broom since it acts as a vacuum picking up the dirt in the cloths.

Step Two

Now that you know that you will need to sweep frequently, you will also want to mop at least once a week to remove any dirt build-up. This is because you are going to be sweeping up most of the dirt with your broom, vacuum or Sweeper it will be so much easier for you. You may just have to mop some harder to get spots that a broom will not get, but all in all it should not be a stressful job.

Step Three

When you are getting ready to mop your wood laminate floors you will want to make sure that you are not putting in too much water or liquid on the floors so that the floor doesn’t start lifting or delaminating. A quick mixture that can be made with vinegar will have your laminate floors looking at its best. After you are done sweeping, you can mix a cup of vinegar in warm and steamy water. Mix in a few drops of lemon and a drop of dish detergent. Now you are ready to mop your floors. Once you are ready to mop, just dip your mop in, squeeze most of the water out so it does not leave your floor extremely wet and then quickly dry the floor with a clean towel.

This mixture has been used for ages by people all over the country and is quick, easy, and very effective. It will clean your laminate floors in a matter of minutes. While many people don’t enjoy the vinegar smell, the drops of lemon make it smell fresh and clean. Not a lot of people use soap, but it is highly recommended because it cleans the floor more thoroughly and lifts up any hard to get spots.
