Are you one of those many homeowners who want to find out exactly how to clean floors in your home fast and effectively? With so many products in the market now that the media tries to sell you, it is sometimes hard to find out exactly which one to choose from and which ones are the “good” ones.

Some floors are easier to clean than others, but regardless of whether you have hardwood floors or marble floors they all need periodic cleaning. Sometimes it seems like the more we clean, the harder it is to keep up with cleaning your floors. The floors are the hardest thing to keep up with in the home since we are constantly walking, spilling, and sometimes destroying the floors without even knowing.

Due to the fact that homeowners vary in their choice of floors, we will need to take a look at how to clean the more popular types of floor which happen to be tile, carpet, and hardwood floors. It’s obvious that you wouldn’t sweep your floor that has carpet, so with that said lets take a look at how you would clean your floors.

If you have carpeted floor, then it is obvious that you will want to vacuum your floors. Being that dirt and dust are not as visible on carpet, you will want to always keep your carpet vacuumed. It would be ideal for you to vacuum every couple of days, but if time does not permit to do it that frequently then you should definitely do it at least once a week.

This will allow your floor to stay filthy-free which makes it more presentable and it also helps with allergies by keeping away and getting rid of the dust and dirt. Additionally, carpeted floors will need to be spot cleaned once or twice a year.

If you have anything other than carpet in your home then you should sweep your floors regularly. Just like carpet, your floor will collect dust and dirt and will need to be cleaned on a regular basis. If you have small children, then you know how often you may have to go behind them and clean up crumbs and toys left behind.
Sweeping your floors on a regular basis is a must if you want to keep them clean, so you should commit yourself to sweeping them every day. A good time to sweep your floors is at night before you go to bed. At this time the kids should be asleep and out of the way for you to quickly sweep with a broom or with the handy Swiffer Sweeper.

These are some basic things that are sometimes forgotten, but are the most important steps on keeping your floors clean and filthy-free. The trick on how to clean floors easier and faster is to not let them get layered with dust and dirt because if you do that then it will be so much harder to clean. Remember that regardless of the type of floor that you have the best looking floors are those that are clean and dirt-free.

While hardwood floors are elegant, beautiful, and desirable they are also more expensive and harder to maintain. With that being said, there are so many people these days that are going with wood laminate floors because they are lower priced and are much easier to clean. It doesn’t take too much to keep wood laminate floors in perfect condition. Here is how to clean wood laminate floors in a few simple steps.

Step One

First and foremost, you want to make sure that you sweep and clean up any spills from your laminate floors constantly. Just like any other regular floors sweeping on a daily basis will remove dust and dirt that may be on the floors. Even if the room is not busy, you should always be inclined to sweeping since there will be dust particles from your cooling and heating vents.

If there are any spills on your floor then you will want to immediately clean it right up because you want to keep it from getting hard and messing up the laminate floor. You may want to use a Swiffer Sweeper which is inexpensive and very easy to use; in fact it is so much easier than a broom since it acts as a vacuum picking up the dirt in the cloths.

Step Two

Now that you know that you will need to sweep frequently, you will also want to mop at least once a week to remove any dirt build-up. This is because you are going to be sweeping up most of the dirt with your broom, vacuum or Sweeper it will be so much easier for you. You may just have to mop some harder to get spots that a broom will not get, but all in all it should not be a stressful job.

Step Three

When you are getting ready to mop your wood laminate floors you will want to make sure that you are not putting in too much water or liquid on the floors so that the floor doesn’t start lifting or delaminating. A quick mixture that can be made with vinegar will have your laminate floors looking at its best. After you are done sweeping, you can mix a cup of vinegar in warm and steamy water. Mix in a few drops of lemon and a drop of dish detergent. Now you are ready to mop your floors. Once you are ready to mop, just dip your mop in, squeeze most of the water out so it does not leave your floor extremely wet and then quickly dry the floor with a clean towel.

This mixture has been used for ages by people all over the country and is quick, easy, and very effective. It will clean your laminate floors in a matter of minutes. While many people don’t enjoy the vinegar smell, the drops of lemon make it smell fresh and clean. Not a lot of people use soap, but it is highly recommended because it cleans the floor more thoroughly and lifts up any hard to get spots.

After picking out what kind of floors you are getting in your home now you are wondering how to clean marble floors since that was your optimal choice. While marble floors are nice and will increase the value of your home, you will most definitely want to learn how to clean them the proper way because you invested your hard earned money in it. Because marble is a natural stone you will need to treat it differently than other types of flooring. The last thing that you will want it to ruin them with the wrong type of solution, so here are a few things to remember to clean your marble floors and maintain them.

1.	Choosing the Right Solution – The hardest part about figuring out how to clean your marbled floor is deciding on what kind of mixture you will be using to clean. You will not want to use anything acidic because it will eat away at your floors and you also don’t want to use city water because sometimes it leaves salt behind and the residue will also eat away the floors. Go to your nearest home store like Home Depot or Lowes and find a cleaner specifically made for marbled floors. This would be something that has a neutral pH level 7.

2.	Tools Needed – You will not want to use just any type of broom or mop to clean up your floors. You should invest your money into a having a good dust mop and a sponge mop; nothing that will scratch your floors. In fact, you can use the handy, dandy Swiffer Sweeper to remove any dust from the floor which will clean up fast, easy and scratch free. if you do not want to invest a lot of money into a more expensive mop, make sure you get a sponge mop that is soft and doesn’t have any bristles that will damage the floors. If you do have the funds it is recommended to invest in a micro-fiber mop which will leave your floors scratch free as well.

3.	Maintaining & Preventions – Maintaining your floors is sometimes easily forgotten and is fairly important because you can lengthen the time that your marble floors will look like they were just installed. Due to the fact that marble is etched by anything acidic you will want to make sure that you quickly clean up any spills like soda, orange juice, or vinegar for example. Keep a spray bottle of marble cleaner handy to clean spills and marks as they happen. To further protect your marble flooring, it is recommended that you use small carpet rugs at any entrances or areas that collect a lot of dirt. This will not eliminate dirt from getting on your floors, but it truly helps decrease the mess made on the floors.

The hardest thing of making a purchase is usually how to maintain it. If this is the case with you, you no longer have to scratch your head and wonder how to clean marble floors. Now that you have these three easy steps you are on your way to having your marbled floors looking amazing.

Are you looking to learn how to clean tile floors in as little time possible and with easy, inexpensive products? If this is you, then you are in for a treat. If you get caught up with watching the latest commercials on the “new” best cleaning solution, or the “best” vacuum ever existed, then you will feel terribly overwhelmed. Here you will learn that there are a number of ways to keep your tile floors from looking old and dirty.

First, like any other type of floor you will want to sweep frequently; preferable everyday, but several times a week will work if your time is limited. The reason for this is because regardless of how much foot traffic there may be in certain rooms, you will always have dust from the air vents that will cause small particles to be on your floors. By sweeping frequently you will be able to decrease the maintenance because you will be keeping up with the dirt that is falling on your floors, so pick up your broom, vacuum, or Swiffer Sweeper and get those dust monsters off of your floor.

Another way that will help you in keeping your tile clean is to mop your floors at least once a week. Why? Well because you are looking to have your floors clean and shiny at all times, so you will need to dedicate at least one time a week for mopping. Although you can buy any cleaning product, you will soon find out that Vinegar has the magic title cleaning power.

You can mix a cup of white vinegar to a gallon of water and immediately start moping the spots and stains off of your floor. The best way to do this is to really wet your floors with the mixture and let it sit for about 10 minutes while the vinegar soaks up the tile and removes the “nasties”. In the meantime if you are in the cleaning mood you can scrub off the harder to get spots on the grout or you can wipe the baseboards with a sponge and the same mixture wherever there are spots.

Thirdly, not only do you just want to learn how to clean tile floors, but you will also want to prevent your now clean floors from getting filthy. A great way to do this is to place rugs in the areas where there is a lot of foot traffic. You will want to have rugs in the entryways of your home where everyone that walks in can wipe their shoes off. Although this is not going to eliminate the dirt completely, this will decrease the amount that would be there if you hadn’t placed a rug.

These are all simple, easy to use steps on how to clean tile floors and preventing them from getting really dirty. Remember that the main trick to keeping yout floors clean is to be consistent with cleaning. The longer you go without sweeping and moping the longer it is going to take you to clean.

Many people want to beautify their homes by changing their floors to something nicer like hardwood floors, but because hardwood floors are thought to be a superior choice, many decide on Laminate floors. This is because laminates are durable, affordable, easier to install and are just as nice as hardwood floors. If you have just made your purchase you will want to learn how to clean laminate floors effectively.

A lot of people have the impression that cleaning laminate floors is hard and tedious, but you will learn the opposite. This type of flooring is not just nice looking, but it just requires low maintenance and is long lasting. Here are some simple steps that you can use to keep your laminate floors looking like you just had them installed.

First and foremost your laminate floors are designed to be easy to care for, and to require little maintenance, therefore you can get away with just having to clean up the higher traffic areas more often. These areas that have a lot of foot traffic should be cleaned daily to prevent dirt and debris buildup. The other areas or rooms that are not used as much can be swept once a week. Instead of using a broom to sweep your floors which can cause some scratching you can go with something like a Swiffer Sweeper which picks up all of the dust from the floor leaving it scratch free.

Secondly, after you have swept your floors you can grab a damp cloth or a mop with a little bit of water and mop your floors like you wood with any other type of floor. If you are using a mop make sure you ring the mop out twice as excessive water will damage your laminate flooring. If you are not careful you can destroy your laminate floors and they will begin to lift if you have excessive water on them. Likewise, if anything spills on the floor be sure to clean it up as soon as it spills.

Thirdly, if you are using a cleaner, make sure that it is nothing to strong that will eat away at the floors and destroy the first layer that the laminate floors have. If you want you can make your own solution with a cup of vinegar mixed with a gallon of water. If you do not like the vinegar smell, you don’t have to worry because after a few minutes the smell is gone. If it is still a problem for you, then you can add a few drop of lemon which will give your floors a nice, clean scent.

Sweeping once a day and moping once a week is a great way to decrease debris buildup, therefore make sure that you can commit to doing this. Additionally, you will want to make sure that you maintain your floors. By being careful not to use abrasive cleaners, by using moving pads when re-arranging furniture and by keeping scratchy objects like scouring pads away from your floors

If you are concerned about how to clean wood floors, then let me tell you that it is not that hard! The trick to having longer lasting floors and making them look like they have just been waxed is to properly clean and maintain them. Many people make it so difficult to clean their hardwood floors because they think that it is a daunting process, they need expensive chemicals and machines, or whatever they have been told before.

You will learn that you don’t have to spend all of your money on the latest and newest chemicals that are being sold over and over again. Nor will you have to buy or rent huge machines to keep your wood floors looking their best. With just a little maintenance and taking proper care of your floors you will be able to have them looking great and lasting longer.

First, just like tile floors and carpet; your hardwood floors will collect dust and dirt. Even in the rooms that there is not much foot traffic, you are bound to getting your floors full of lint or dust particles. This comes from your air vents, so you will want to sweep your floors or vacuum them. The best time to do this is when every one is out of the way and you can quickly sweep up.

If you want to use a vacuum you will want to use one specifically for floors and not carpet because some of the vacuums will scratch your wood floods with their brushes. Doing this daily will allow your floors to look cleaner and it will make it easier to you than to wait when you have layers of dirt and dust to clean up.

Secondly, it is a good idea to mop your floors every week. The worst thing that you can do is to use water to clean your floors and this is because wood swells when you pour water on it. This is why it is important to invest in a good hardwood floor cleaner. There are so many to choose from in the market so you can take your pick. In fact there is now a “Swiffer Sweeper” that was specifically made to sweep your floors as well as mop it with the hardwood floor solution.

Lastly, a great thing to do is to prevent your hardwood floors from scratching and getting dents. You do this by using furniture pads whenever you are moving your furniture around. Being careful with the types of shoes that are worn on the wood is a must as well. High heels and stilettos may not have a huge effect right away on your wood, but after walking on the wood for a long time with pointy heels, that digs into the wood and may start to split the wood.

When you have figured out how to clean wood floors effectively, it will become pure habit to sweep daily, mop every week, and to prevent the big dents on your wood floors by taking a few precautions. Cleaning your floors does not have to be as hard as many people make it seem so remember that just a bit of extra effort will go a long way in keeping your wood floors at its best.

Now that you have made a decision on buying hardwood floors, the next step is to figure out how to clean hardwood floors properly. The last thing that anyone would want to do is to go and purchase their hardwood floors, clean it a certain way and then end up messing up the wood and having it swell because of improperly cleaning. The TV commercials always advertise one or the other products of which often times fail to deliver what they promote or completely destroy your hardwood floors.

Protecting your hardwood floors is by far the best practice to adhere to in order to keep it around for years to come. With that being said, let’s discuss a few things to remember on keeping your hardwood floors clean as well as making them last a lot longer.

Tip One

Sweep, dust, or vacuum your hardwood floors regularly to keep them from getting scratched with dirt and other particles. If you decide to vacuum the floor, be sure to take note of the type of vacuum cleaner that you have. While some vacuums will do the job without ruining your hardwood floors, it is best to invest into a vacuum cleaner that is used for floors rather than carpet.

Remember that no matter how hard you try, and how little you use a room, floors are going to become dusty as particles float through the air, so keeping up with doing this daily will remove lint and dust that sometimes damages your hard wood floors.

Tip Two

Another tip on how to clean hardwood floors is to clean your floors with a cleaning agent that was specifically designed for hardwood floors. Many people are unaware that water should never be used to clean your hardwood floors. If you have been using water, then please stop! Since wood naturally expands when it is wet, never wet mop or use excessive water to clean your floor.

Large amounts of water can cause the wood to swell and may cause your floor to crack or splinter; therefore you will want to use a specific cleaner for wood.
Cleaning your wood floors with a cleaner specifically made for it will help keep it glossy and will leave a nice and glossy finish.

Tip Three

Place rugs in common areas where there will be loads of foot traffic or where water is bound to splash. Such places are the bathrooms, and in the kitchen by your sink. Other places that should have a rug is the entryways where you and your visitors can wipe their shoes before stepping into your home. This will remove the majority of the dust and dirt and keep it away from your beautiful floors.

Hardwood floors are beautiful and they add elegance to your home that no other type of flooring can match. However, it is hard to keep them looking nice, let alone making them last longer, but with the tips that were shared above you will be on your way to making them look a lot better than before. In addition to making them shine away you will be able to keep up with the floors and make them last longer.
